Standard Deviation Theatre believes strongly in providing opportunities to emerging artists to hone their craft, broaden their horizons, and blaze new trails. As such, there are always ways for artists to be involved with the company for Directors, Designers, Stage Management, Technicians/Production Crew, Playwrights, and Actors.
Directors
Standard Deviation Theatre’s process of season programming is unique in the theatre world: Director-proposed submissions. This process helps expand the pool of plays that are considered for production, and ensures that the play and the Director already have a strong relationship to each other before rehearsals even start.
Standard Deviation Theatre is no longer accepting season proposals for the 2012 Season. Thank you to all of the directors for their submissions.
Designers
Standard Deviation Theatre is always accepting of applications by those interested in taking on a position as a Designer. These positions are filled first by Director request, and secondly by application.
Interested Designers of all backgrounds should send a cover letter, resume / CV, and samples of their work to Artistic Director Reid Vanier: artisticdirector@standarddeviationtheatre.ca
Stage Management
Standard Deviation Theatre is always accepting of applications by those interested in taking on a position in Stage Management. These positions are filled first by Director request, and secondly by application. There is always an opportunity for Assistant Stage Management positions as well, at the discretion of the production team.
Interested Stage Managers should send a cover letter and resume / CV to Production Manager Shaw Forgeron: productionmanager@standarddeviationtheatre.ca
Technicians / Production Crew
The technical component of theatre is a vital one, and Standard Deviation is always looking for interested parties of all levels of experience to participate in the mounting of the season productions; construction, lighting, sound, operation of lights/sound, running crew, etc.
Interested Technicians and Crew Heads should send a cover letter and resume / CV to Technical Director Joseph Lauria: technicaldirector@standarddeviationtheatre.ca
Playwrights
While submissions for season productions must be made by prospective Directors, Standard Deviation Theatre always accepts submissions from Playwrights for dramaturgical consultation on their work. This consultation may range from one-on-one dramaturgy, to staged readings, to the workshopping of selected scenes with Actors and a Director.
Submissions from Playwrights should include: cover letter, resume / CV, and the most recent draft of the script, and should be sent to Resident Dramaturg Paul Carere: residentdramaturg@standarddeviationtheatre.ca
Actors
Standard Deviation Theatre is no longer holding auditions for the 2011 Season. Future audition postings will be posted here.
